Materials used in hose manufacturing

Automotive hoses are made from various materials to suit performance requirements:

Basic Materials:

  • Synthetic Rubber: Flexible and heat-resistant, often used in cooling and fuel hoses.
  • Silicone: Highly heat-resistant (-60 to +260°C), used in high-temperature environments.
  • Thermoplastic (such as nylon): Lightweight, flexible, and chemically resistant.
  • Reinforcement with steel wire or fibers: In high-pressure hoses to prevent rupture and expansion under pressure.

The general structure of hoses typically consists of:

  • Inner Layer: Handles flowing liquids or gases.
  • Reinforcement Layer: Steel wire or fabric to increase mechanical resistance.
  • Layer External: Protects against external elements and provides added durability.
